Mary L. (Wallis) Henson, age 83, a residence of West since 1989, passed away early Sunday morning, October 19, 2008 at West rest Haven. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at White Rock Cemetery near Ross, with Jerry King officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Henson was born May 24, 1925 in Bell County, the daughter of Lamar C. and Mary Ellen (Shuemake) Wallis. She attended schools in Waco and on November 2, 1974 she was united in marriage to Clyde Lee Henson in Longview. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1987. Mary was a homemaker and formerly worked 13 years for the Holiday Cleaners in Dallas. She was a member of the West Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819 Ladies Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed playing bingo, watching television, canning, and embroidering. She especially loved spending time with her family. Mary is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lanny Brewer; and a sister, Evelyn Varner. Survivors include three nieces, Linda Sue Chavaria of Waco, Lana Jo Morphis of West, and Debbie LaPrade and husband Pat of Mesquite; seven great nieces and nephews; eleven great great nieces and nephews; three great great great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Brian Braun, Bobby Slovak, Donny Slovak, Adam LaPrade, Gary Wicks, and Dale Wicks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Meals-On-Wheels or the American Cancer Society.
