Mary (Kaska) Pavlas, age 79, of West, passed away early Monday morning, December 7, 2009 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West by Janice Kaluza, with a visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Steven Nesrsta and Rev. Ed Karasek as con-celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Pavlas was born October 18, 1930 in Hill County, the daughter of Joseph "Joe" and Mary (Picha) Kaska. She was raised in West and attended St. Mary's School. On October 11, 1952 she was united in marriage to Alvin F. Pavlas in West. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2006. Mary was a homemaker and a professional seamstress working for the SWS Sewing Factory and Lorch Manufacturing. She also ran a children's daycare in her home for 30 years and cared for the elderly. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 of West, the Ladies Altar Society and the Rosary Society. Mary was also a member of SPJST Lodge #6 in Cottonwood, KJZT, RVOS, and the Czech Heritage Society. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She always loved making strudels and noodles, listening to polka music, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bob Kaska and Albert Kaska. Survivors include a son, Danny Pavlas and wife Rhonda of West; two daughters, Ann Walls and Betty Orler and her husband Phil, all of West; two brothers, George Kaska of Abbott, and Laddie Kaska of Arlington; nine grandchildren, Amber Moore, Ashley Wachsmann and husband Casey, Jared Orler and wife Andrea, Josh Orler, Jake Orler and wife Megan, Justin Orler, Kalyn Pavlas, Ethan Pavlas and J.R. Pavlas; five great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Josh Orler, Jake Orler, Justin Orler, Ashley Wachsmann, Amber Moore, Kalyn Pavlas, Ethan Pavlas, Albert Kaska, Jared Orler and J.R. Pavlas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Ambulance Association, West Senior Citizen Program, or the Christian Women's Job Corp in Waco.
