Mary Ann Pavlas, age 88, of Abbott, passed away early Friday morning, April 12, 2019 at her residence near Abbott. A rosary will be recited 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2019 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Joe Keating and Rev. Stephen Nesrsta as celebrants. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery in Abbott. Mary Ann was born September 19, 1930 in the Brooken Community of Hill County, the daughter of John and Sophie (Makovy) Beseda. She attended school in Penelope and was a graduate of Penelope High School. On November 9, 1953 she was united in marriage to Victor Pavlas in Abbott. Mary Ann was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was also a member of the K.J.Z.T. St. Ludmilla Society #11 in West, Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 in West, and Quilting for Christ at her church in Abbott. She worked with her husband on the family farm for most of her life. Mary Ann enjoyed being outdoors, working in the fields next to her husband, feeding the chickens on the farm, gardening and canning. She loved spending time with her family, especially her Czech music and listening to Victor play his accordion. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Nancy Kasberg; brothers, John, Henry and Joe Beseda, and an infant sister, Frances Beseda. Survivors include her beloved husband of 65 years, Victor Pavlas of Abbott; a daughter, Cindy Psencik and husband Mark "Bo" of Abbott; a son-in-law, Mike Kasberg of Waco; sisters-in-law, Martha Beseda, Lil Pavlas, and Willie Mae Polansky and husband Sam; grandchildren, Stephen Kasberg and wife Katelyn, Greg Kasberg and wife Stacey, Douglas Psencik and wife Haley and Katie Holcomb and husband Michael; great grandchildren, Tatum, Madison, Colin, Kaylyn, Presley, Emily, Miles and one on the way, Elliot; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Stephen Kasberg, Greg Kasberg, Douglas Psencik, Michael Holcomb, Mike Kasberg and Richard Polansky. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
