Mary Ann Coats

Mary Ann Coats, age 90, of Elm Mott, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Darrell Kostiha as celebrant. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross. Mary was born September 3, 1927 in Waco, the daughter of John C. and Ann (Huber) Young. She attended school in Speegleville. On July 28, 1945 she was united in marriage to Leroy Coats in Waco. Leroy preceded her in death on April 27, 1984. Mary worked from home in the upholstery business for many years. She could upholster anything with near perfection, and her work was sought after by many. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #1729 in Bellmead. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Margaret Shelton; a sister Dottie Nokeley Riley, and brothers Johnny Young, Jodie Young, Clarence Young, Bernard Young, Raymond Young, H.L. Young, and F.M. Young. Survivors include her daughter Sarah Kubacak and husband James of Elm Mott; a sister, Cecelia "Sissy" Sulak; grandchildren, John Shelton and wife LaTisha, Jayme Kubacak, Kevin Kubacak, and Collin Kubacak and wife Hannah; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are James Kubacak, Kevin Kubacak, Collin Kubacak, Tommy Atkins, Aubrey Uptmor and Russell Tharp. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Josephs Catholic Church, or to the Catholic Daughters of America Court #1729 in Bellmead.
