Mary A. Svrcek, age 83, of Waco, formerly of West, passed away early Saturday morning, January 7, 2006 at her residence. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West by Rev. Ed Karasek. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Walter Matus as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mary was born August 15, 1922 in Hill County, the daughter of Anton and Bessie (Steinocher) Mynarcik. She attended the Ross Public School. On October 21, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph F. "Joe" Svrcek in West. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1995. Mary was a housewife and homemaker. They first lived in Waco before moving to Corsiciana in 1960. While there she worked as a cook for the Corsiciana I.S.D. for 10 years and then as a baker for the Collin Street Bakery for 5 years. During that time she also attended Navarro Junior College and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Education. After enjoying retirement for several years in Corsiciana they returned to West in 1987. In 2003 she moved into The Village independent living center at Providence Park in Waco. Mary was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and enjoyed volunteering at West Community Hospital and later at the Providence Park assisted living center. She was also a member of the American Ex-P.O.W. #1 Ladies Auxiliary in Waco, and the K.J.Z.T. Society #11, R.V.O.S. Lodge, and the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829 all in West. Survivors include two sons, Frank Svrcek and wife Linda of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Ben Svrcek and wife Fran of Austin; two daughters, Bernadette Svrcek of Ft. Worth and Rosemarie Isbell and husband David of Plano; one brother, Leo Mynarcik of West; eight grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Svrcek, Victor and James Isbell, and Ivan, Lindsey, Jacob, and Levi Svrcek; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center.
