Mary A. Lander, age 88, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, May 21, 2017 at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy, with Pastor Jeff Richter officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Mary was born June 27, 1928 in Leroy the daughter of Frank and Amanda (Splitt) Volpert. She attended the old Gerald School and was a 1946 graduate of West High School. On March 17, 1949 she was united in marriage to Monroe J. Lander in Gerald. Monroe preceded her in death on November 9, 2010. Mary worked in housekeeping for West Community Hospital, West Rest Haven and Town Hall Estates. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald. Mary was also a member of the SPJST Lodge #6 in Cottonwood. She enjoyed gardening, doing yard work, collecting knick knacks and being outdoors. She especially cherished gifts from family that she received through the years. Mary is also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Julius, Henry and Frank Volpert. Survivors include a brother-in-law, Lonnie Lander and wife Barbara of Wichita Falls and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Eddie Ray Lehmann, Garry Lee Drews, John Vigus, Ronnie Kruger and Michael Lander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald or to Gerald Cemetery Association.
