Marvin E. Maness

Marvin E. Maness, age 84, of West, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 7, 2016 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Marvin was born March 7, 1932 in Huntsville, the son of James and Lela (Alley) Maness. He was a 1950 graduate of Huntsville High School. Marvin served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. Marvin worked for the Houston Power and Light Company as an electrician for 38 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the IBEW Local Union #66. Marvin enjoyed fishing, dancing, being at the farm with the animals and looking out the window. He especially loved spending time with his family. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; a former wife, Letha (Thompson) Maness; brothers, James and Floyd; and sisters, Alpha and Frances. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Urbanovsky of West, and her children, Doug, Jackie, Michael, Sheila, Becky, Cheryl, Tina, Melody and Melissa and their families; a son, Marvin Les Maness and wife Lani; daughters, Vanessa James, Debra Shipp and husband Jackie and Cynthia Horton and husband Robert; a brother, Tommy Maness; a sister, Ida Mae West; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Robert Horton, Gene West, Steve O'Neil, Raymond Kolar, Joey Kolar, Troy Kirsch, Sam West and Rufio Villasenor. Honorary pallbearers are Dusty Urbanovsky, Brandon Urbanovsky, Vaughan Blackwell, Corey Halterman, Jason Schumacher, Michael Schumacher, Randy Schumacher, Raymond Kolar Jr., Jonathan Morris, Ryan Lanier, Joseph Green, Colin Berry, Dustin Trimmier, and Marvin Leslie Maness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund.
