Marvin Cvikel

June 1, 1941 — February 4, 2013

Marvin Martin Cvikel, age 71, of West, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Monday evening, February 4, 2013 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Mr. Cvikel was born June 1, 1941 in Penelope, the son of Joe and Lydia (Machac) Cvikel. He attended school in Hillsboro. On October 26, 1963 he was united in marriage to Lois Marie Majors in Hillsboro. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2006. Marvin was a cotton ginner for over 38 years until he retired in 1995. He also worked for the Roosevelt Module Hauling Company in Roosevelt, Oklahoma and A-I Auto Glass in Ft. Worth. In giving to his community Marvin was the founder and Fire Chief of the Abbott Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. Marvin was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, working puzzles, working on his tractor and sitting on the porch shelling pecans. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Marvin is also preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two sons, Joseph Cvikel of Whitney and Danny Cvikel and wife Tammy of Unionville, Missouri; two daughters, Vickey Bartosh and husband David of Abbott and Shelley Cvikel and special friend, Miguel of West; two brothers, Victor Cvikel and wife Maxine and Leon Cvikel; grandchildren, John Bartosh and wife Haley, Michael Bartosh, Jeremy Cvikel, Daniel Cvikel and wife Amber, Levi Cvikel, Jennifer Cvikel, Nathan Pipes, Zach Pipes, Jamie Cvikel, Justin Cvikel, Allen Cvikel, Brandi Cvikel, Charles Cvikel, Jonathan Cvikel, Gracie Cvikel, Kevin Cvikel and Carina Herrera; great grandchildren, Matt, Kylie and Madelyn; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are John Bartosh, Michael Bartosh, Jeremy Cvikel, Daniel Cvikel, Kevin Cvikel and Justin Cvikel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Ambulance Association.
