Martha (Kallus) Petter, age 85 of Abbott, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2005 in Hillsboro. A rosary will be recited 8:00 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott by Msgr. Henry Petter. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott with Msgr. Henry Petter, Rev. Steven Nesrsta, and Deacon John Petter con-celebrating. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. Martha was born January 15, 1920 in West, the daughter of Louis and Emilie (Gerik) Kallus. She attended Brookyn School near Cottonwood, St. Mary's School, and Jessie School. Martha married Victor Petter on November 11, 1941 in West and they were happily married for 54 years. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1995. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on their farm. Martha loved quilting, gardening, canning, sewing, and sewed all of her children's and grand-children's clothes. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and always wanted to teach them to quilt and bake kolaches. She was a member of KJZT in Abbott and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the quilting club. Her parents; two grandsons, Joshua Cody Petter, and Ryan William Petter; and three brothers, Ben Kallus, Ernest Kallus, and Jerome Kallus all precede her in death. Survivors include three sons, Robert Petter and wife Betty of Garland, Daniel Petter and wife Evelyn, and Al Petter and wife Donna all of West; two daughters, Margaret "Margie" Petter of Dallas, and Teresa Peterson and husband Anthony of Forney; her sister, Lillie Kupcak and husband Louis of Waco; her sister-in-law, Henrietta Kallus of West; seven grandchildren, Amy Petter, Caleb Petter, Sarah Petter, Brian Petter, Elizabeth Petter, Jeff Peterson, and Lisa Peterson; eleven God-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Active pallbearers are Harry Cepak, Albin Petter, Jr., Joe Svacina, Raymond Kupcak, Barney Pustejovsky, Tony Petter, Richard Kallus, and Jerry Soukup. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
