Martha Jo Clark, age 86, of Austin, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 at Brush Country Nursing Home in Austin.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 25, 2020 at Bold Springs Cemetery near West.
Martha Jo was born January 3, 1934 in Belton, the daughter of Isaac and Martha (Commander) Starnes. She was a 1951 graduate of West High School. Martha Jo was an elementary school teacher for the Houston, Ft. Worth, and Katy Independent School Districts for many years before retiring. She loved playing the piano, reading Agatha Christie murder mysteries, listening to all kinds of music, and studying the Bible. She was a member of San Marcos Community Church where she was active in the church choir, before moving to Austin.
Martha Jo is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Hulen, Forrest, and Larry Starnes; and sisters, Dorothy Mann, Lonita McDougal, and Helen Starnes.
Survivors include her sons, John D. Clark and wife Julie, and James F. Clark, all of Austin; a grandson, Mason Clark of Washington, DC; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
