Martha Damron, age 86, of West, passed away Sunday morning, September 4, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with the Dr. John Crowder officiating. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walkers Creek Cemetery near Cameron. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Damron was born on July 23, 1919 in Cameron, the daughter of William and Lula Mae (Alexander) Conner. She attended schools in Walkers Creek and Plainview. On October 2, 1937, she was united in marriage to J. C. Damron in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1991. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Martha loved working crossword puzzles. She was a faith member of First Baptist Church of West. Survivors include one son, Gary Damron and wife Patricia of Tyler; one daughter, Colleen Kelley of West; one sister, Jennie Damron of Lacy Lakeview; grandchildren, Rachel Damron, Jill Laymance, Raymond Kelley and Cliffton Kelley; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Brooke Laymance and Raymond Kelley Jr.; a great great-grandson, Hagen Kelley; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers will be John Carnes, Denny Baird, Michael Cooper, Darren Paris, Scott Sparks and David Laymance. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Sunday School Class.
