Martha Ann Prasifka, age 86, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, March 2, 2014 at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Martha was born August 7, 1927 near West, the daughter of Ladin J. and Adela F. (Marek) Svrcek. She attended schools near Cottonwood and the West area. On October 19, 1948 she was united in marriage to Robert W. Prasifka in West. Robert preceded her in death on May 26, 1997. Martha was a homemaker and also worked for Burlington Cotton Mill, Friendship Caf, and did babysitting. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 and the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #6. Martha enjoyed cooking, gardening, embroidering, quilting, and took excellent care of her husband and children. Martha had been a resident of West Rest Haven for several years and recently moved to Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. Martha is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ernest Svrcek; and a sister, Christine Grellhesl. Survivors include a son, Michael Prasifka and wife Rhonda of Abbott; two daughters, Kathy Harris and husband John of Ft. Worth and Diane Girard and husband David of Abbott; a sister, Mary Ann Hlavenka and husband Joe of Allen; four grandchildren Jason Harris and wife Michelle, Melissa Ainsworth and husband Levin, Aaron Prasifka and wife Ericha and Amy Linder and husband David; 6 great-grandchildren Emma and Jackson Harris, Scott, Christian and Paylin Ainsworth and Cheyenne Linder and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Richard Matus, Richard Grellhesl, Philip Holt, Charlie Svrcek, Tommy Svrcek and Joey Hlavenka. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Harris, Melissa Ainsworth, Aaron Prasifka and Amy Linder. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund or Bridgeway Hospice of Hillsboro.
