Marjorie (Johnson) Felts, age 86, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, February 26, 2017 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Plano. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Marjorie was born August 23, 1930 in Corpus Christi, the daughter of Percy and Winofred (Perrigue) Johnson. She was a 1947 graduate of Teague High School. Marjorie received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Baylor University in 1966. On November 26, 1950 she was united in marriage to Jack H. Felts in Teague. Jack preceded her in death on October 10, 2006. Marjorie taught music in Ft. Worth, Hillsboro and West. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the West Kiwanis Club, the West Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Texas Retired Teachers Association, where she received the E.L. Galyean Service Award for Outstanding Service. Marjorie enjoyed teaching piano, reading, sewing and painting with water colors. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marjorie is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill Johnson and Johnny Johnson; and a sister, Joyce Moore. Survivors include her children, David Felts and wife Cindy of Dallas; Charles Felts and wife Janis of Benbrook, and Linda Ricks and husband Warren of Frisco; a brother, Richard Johnson; sisters, Ann Hettinger and Rebecca Haddock; a sister-in-law, Shirley Ellis; grandchildren, Erin Joy Hager, Alan Felts, Elizabeth Joy Bartlow, Emily Joy Atwood, Evie Joy Eversole, Mathew Ricks and Grayson Ricks; great grandchildren, Ty, Kaydin, Keirra, Zachary, Titus, Naviah, Luke, Xara, Alexis, John Mark, Jackson, Levi and 3 more on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Alan Felts, Matthew Ricks, Grayson Ricks, Jeremy Bartlow, Jeremy Hager, Preston Atwood and Jason Eversole. Honorary pallbearers are Hays Hettinger, Richard Johnson, Blake Moore and the Wild West Widows Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jack Felts Scholarship Fund or First Baptist Church of West.
