Marilyn Patterson

Marilyn Wilkerson Patterson, age 84, of Leroy, passed away of cancer Thursday evening, February 1, 2024 at Providence Village in Waco.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2024 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Minister Jordan Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy.

Marilyn was born March 2, 1939 in Brownwood, the daughter of the late Dick and Vera Wilkerson. She was a graduate of Garland High School and a summa cum laude graduate of University of Texas in Arlington where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Marilyn was a member of Crestview Church of Christ in Waco. During her professional career Marilyn held several responsible positions in the Ft. Worth area, including being the business manager of the Sid W. Richardson Foundation, the accounting manager of the Fort Worth Independent School District, and the controller of the City of Fort Worth. While she was employed by Practitioners Publishing Company, she co-authored a nationally published how-to book for CPA's entitled "Guide to Dealerships".  For 22 years, Marilyn volunteered preparing free income tax returns for low-income and senior citizens through the AARP Tax-Aide program in McLennan County.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Patterson of Leroy; her sons, Lance Walker and wife Cindi, Aaron Keating and wife Liz, and Brett Carlson and wife Melissa; her grandchildren, Hamilton Walker and wife Kate, Madison Walker, Brooklyn Carlson, and Knox Carlson; a great-grandson, Davis Walker; her sisters, Sharon Sisk and husband Bill, and Charlotte Ervin; brothers-in-law, Don Patterson and wife Bette, and Scott Patterson and wife Mardelle; a sister-in-law, Kathy Ruth Patterson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crestview Church of Christ.
