Marie S. Corbett

November 8, 1926 — February 2, 2014

Marie S. Corbett, age 87, of Elm Mott, passed away early Sunday morning, February 2, 2014 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Greg Way officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Corbett was born November 8, 1926 in Brownwood, the daughter of Homer G. and Ethel (Chamberlain) Seamans. She attended Brownwood Schools and was a 1943 graduate of Brownwood High School prior to attending Howard Payne University. On April 4, 1947 she was united in marriage to Dr. Joseph H. Corbett in Brownwood. Dr. Corbett preceded her in death on November 9, 2011. Marie was a homemaker and was president and bookkeeper for Ye Olde Pawn Shop in Waco for 17 years. She was a faithful member of the Elm Mott United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Junior League and the P.T.A., both in Waco. She enjoyed water color painting, gardening, reading, computer card games and tending her beautiful flowers. She especially loved spending time with her children and attending their activities. Marie is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Paul Corbett; brothers, Billy Seamans and Dale Seamans; and sisters, Susie Turner and Jean Freeman. Survivors include a son, James Corbett of Elm Mott; a daughter, Lisa Corbett Tucker and husband Ricky of Pipe Creek; a sister, Margaret McQueen; grandchildren, Jason Corbett, Tiffany McDaniel and husband Derek and Nikki Mattick and husband Keaton; great grandchildren, Cody and Colt Mattick and Gavin and Dakota McDaniel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Cody Mattick, Joe Rister, Justin Jones, Donald Seamans, Mike McQueen and Phillip McQueen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elm Mott United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd's Heart, or Scott & White Hospice at Hillcrest.
