Marie Hegar, age 87, of West passed away early Tuesday afternoon, April 25, 2006 at a Waco nursing home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at West Brethren Church with Rev. Curtis Holland and Rev. Lawrence Junek officiating. Burial will follow at West Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hegar was born December 14, 1918 in West, the daughter of Innocent and Magdalene (Jurica) Piscacek. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and West High School. On July 30, 1942 she was united in marriage to Emil R. Hegar in Temple. They raised their family and farmed together until retiring in 1990. On March 22, 1995 Emil preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and loved cooking, canning, sewing, crocheting, quilting and gardening. Marie was a longtime member of the West Brethren Church where she was active in the Christian Sisters. An infant daughter, Irene Hegar; two brothers, Hubert Piscacek and Innie Piscacek; and two sisters, Bennie Soukup and Adele Piscacek, also precede her in death. Survivors include two sons, David Hegar of Ross and Albert Hegar; three daughters, Pauline Skinner and husband Larry of West, Nancy Marsh and husband Lynn of Waco and Martha Rezach and husband Tom of Robinson; one sister, Olga Hegar of West; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Danny Hegar, Lynn Skinner, James Skinner, Emil Skinner, Alvin Moravec and Rocky Hegar. Memorials may be made to the West Brethren Church.
