Marie Grones, age 99 of Dallas, formerly of Abbott, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the home of her daughter in Lavon, Texas. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Sunday until 2 p.m. at Kotch Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited 4 p.m. Sunday followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church of the Assumption; with Father Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mrs. Grones was born November 23, 1907 in Moravia to Emil E. and Vincencie Bazant and came to the United States with her parents at the age of two. She married Joe M. Grones on November 6, 1928 and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1981. She is also preceded in death by a son, Ernest J. Grones who died May 20, 1943. Mrs. Grones lived in Abbott for a number of years and had been a resident of Dallas for fifty three years. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Dallas and was a very religious person and had devoted her life to her family. She loved flowers and everything was precious to her. Mrs. Grones is survived by two daughters; Lorene Holy and husband Joe of West and JoAnn Duke and husband Don of Lavon; two sons, Danny Grones and wife Rea of Mabank and Ronnie Grones and friend Lisa of Fairfield; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers are Willie Kocurek IV, Gabriel Chmielewski, Ronnie Chmielewski, Bill Kocurek III, Louis Nemec and Rusty Bryant. Honorary Pallbearers are his granddaughters and Larry Holy, Bob Terry, Rider Barnes, Justin Shaver and Derek Shaver. The family has requested that memorials be made to St. Mary's Parish Center in West.
