Marian Garrett

Marian Garrett, age 89, of West, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Marian was born in Utah on July 20, 1935, the daughter of Leslie and Flossie (Draper) Miller, and she was raised in New Mexico. After graduating from business college she married James H. Garrett on December 23, 1953. While James served in the U.S. Air Force they lived in numerous locations in the United States and abroad. Upon his retirement, they settled in West, Texas and raised cattle on their ranch. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2007. Marian was a charter member of VFW Auxiliary Post #4819 and served in numerous officer positions within that organization. She also dedicated time serving the West community for several years as a volunteer EMT. Her generosity and commitment to helping others, and love for animals are qualities that leave a lasting impression.

Survivors include her three children, Helen Garrett of Cedar Park, TX, Janice Garrett Barrington, and Stuart Garrett, both of West, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Volunteer Ambulance Association, West VFW Post #4819 Auxiliary, or an animal charity of your choice.
