Marguerite Ann (Haisler) Kasik, age 96, of the Penelope and Malone area, passed away late Saturday afternoon, March 2, 2024 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the West Brethren Church, with Brother Terry Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at the West Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
Marguerite was born March 14, 1927 in the Tunis/Caldwell area of Burleson County, the daughter of William and Rosalie (Zalmanek) Haisler. She was a 1944 graduate of Caldwell High School. Her family moved from Burleson County to Hillsboro in 1947. Before moving from Burleson County her mother filled a bottle with dirt from their farm and brought it with her to Hill County. That dirt will be sprinkled on her casket during her graveside service. On December 26, 1948 she was united in marriage to John Kasik Sr. in Caldwell. God blessed their union with six children. Johnny went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2001. Marguerite was an active member of the West Brethren Church since 1948 where she was involved with the Christian Sisters, Sunday School, Choir, Vacation Bible School, and the Brethren Youth Fellowship as a sponsor. She was also a member of the SPJST Lodge #54, RVOS Lodge #49, West Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 Auxiliary, and Comfort Quilts. She was actively involved in farming and ranching with her husband. She also worked at Kreditor's Sewing Factory in Hubbard and part time with the TSTC Book Store until her retirement. After her retirement she and her youngest daughter donated over 1800 handmade quilted quilts to various individuals, organizations, and benefits. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and working word find puzzles.
Marguerite is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Kasik Jr.; a son-in-law, Daniel Boyett; a daughter, Mona Frances Kasik; brothers, Norman, Nelson, and William Haisler; a grandson, Kevin Kasik; and a great-grandson, Wade Halterman.
Survivors include her daughters, Sylvia Niemeyer and husband Rick of Elm Mott, Cynthia Cockburn of Ferris, Teresa Orr of Ross, and Nina Boyett of Malone; a daughter-in-law, Joan Kasik of Bellmead; a sister, Rosemary Moore; a sister-in-law, Lillian Haisler; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family, and friends.
Active pallbearers are her grandsons, Gary Niemeyer, Brian Kasik, Jason Kasik, John Kasik III, Jeremy Cockburn, Richard Coburn, Justin Orr, Brandon Orr, and Cody Ledbetter. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Lisa Darnell, Kerri Urbanovsky, Amanda Gilson, and Mona Kasik.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Brethren Church, West Brethren Christian Sisters, or to West Brethren Sunday School.
