Margie Ann Harrington, age 85, of West, passed away early Thursday afternoon, January 5, 2012 at West Rest Haven in West. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Sansom and Rev. Bruce Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Harrington was born April 26, 1926 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Harry S. and Kitty Ruth (Doyle) Samuel. She attended schools in Kansas. On July 10, 1945 she was united in marriage to Jes R. Harrington in Kansas City. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2007. They lived in Orangefield before moving to Waco in 1967 and West in 1979. Margie was an accomplished artist who began painting at the age of 10 and won many awards throughout her life. She referred to her work as "Mind Image" because she painted from her imagination. She studied art at the Kansas City Art Institute, Edna Marie's School of fashion Design in Kansas City, Kansas and Lamar University in Beaumont. Margie shared her talent with others by teaching oil painting classes. She and Jes owned Harrington's Artist Showcase, an art gallery in West. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in West. She was also active in the C.A.S.A. Art League and showed her art work in the SAMI and other shows throughout the southwest and with collectors from around the world. She was a lifelong member of the American Business Women's Association. Margie enjoyed traveling to art shows around the state. She especially loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports. Margie is also preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Zack Harrington. Survivors include three sons, David Harrington and wife Kay of Clinton, Mississippi, Van Harrington and wife Nancy of Norman, Oklahoma, and Harry Harrington and wife Sherry of West; a brother, Warren Samuel; grandchildren, Kelly, Jes and wife Del, Chris and wife Melissa, Mike and wife Rebecca, Nick and wife Rachael, Sam and wife Christi, Nikki, and Austin; great grandchildren, Maddy, Amelia, Isabella, Claire, Dane, Heidi, Holly and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Nick, Sam, Mike, Austin, Chris and Jes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of West, Methodist Children's Home in Waco and West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
