Margaret Scott, age 88, of West, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2008 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Anthony Odiong, followed by a visitation till 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Scott was born on November 1, 1919 in Waco, the daughter of Vince and Anna (Vavra) Gerik. She attended school in Tokio. On February 10, 1941, she was united in marriage to Talmadge Glenn "Tal" Scott in Waco. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1994. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. Margaret enjoyed cooking, gardening, whistling, playing drums and listening to Czech music. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829 and St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, where she faithfully sang in the PTC funeral choir for many years. She was also a member of K.J.Z.T. St. Ludmila Society #11 and S.P.J.S.T. Lodge # 54. Her parents; eleven brothers and sisters; two sons, Gene Scott and Larry Scott; and one great grandson, Jacob Daniel Scott, also precede her in death. Survivors include one son, David "Butch" Scott and wife Lou of Bryan; one daughter, Debby Marak and husband Harry Lee of West; a daughter-in-law, Dolores Scott of Ft. Worth; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Gerik; five grandchildren, Derek Scott and wife Kim, Brian Scott and wife Jennifer, Chad Marak and wife Sasha, Amber Marak and fianc Zachary Brown, and Richard Scott and wife Shanna; seven great-grandchildren, Deven, Derek Jr., Brittany, Caleb, Lauren, Paige, and Rick; and one great great-granddaughter, Miranda Scott; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Richard Scott, Derek Scott, Brian Scott, Chad Marak, Tommy Gerik and Emmanuel Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of St. Mary's PTC Choir.
