Margaret Closner, age 92 of West, formerly of Lakeside Village, passed away Friday, September 30, 2005 at West Rest Haven. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Bold Springs Cemetery near West with Dr, John Crowder officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1:30 until services time at Aderhold Funeral Home. Margaret was born December 15, 1912, the daughter of York and Grace (Shook) Skinner. She married Crockett Closner on June 4, 1934 in Denton. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1997. She graduated from West High School in 1930 as valedictorian of her class and from Texas Women's University in 1934 with a Vocational Economics Degree. Margaret did secretarial work in Austin and Meridian. She was a homemaker and enjoyed painting, poetry, and reading, and playing cards. Margaret also played the piano and enjoyed singing. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Clifton, Lakeside Village Ladies Auxiliary, and First Baptist Church of West. She was a former member of the Kopperl First Baptist Church, where she played the piano. She is also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Maurine Humphries. Survivors include four cousins, Bill B. Cobb of Wimberly, Jake Tucker of West, Dick Tucker of Hillsboro, and Martha Hix of College Station; her niece, Sandra Duble of Houston; her faithful companion and pet, "Cat"; and many friends. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of West Building Fund.
