Margaret "Marty" Anderson, age 63, of West, passed away Friday morning, December 4, 2009 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. A rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Anthony Odiong, followed by visitation until 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Anthony Odiong as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Anderson was born October 8, 1946 in Waco, the daughter of Alphonse T. and Margaret Barbara (Hutyra) Cocek. She attended St. Mary's School and was a 1965 graduate of West High School where she was an All State basketball player. Marty went on to attend Baylor University. On January 7, 1967 she was united in marriage to Eddie Lee Anderson in West. Marty was very involved in supporting her husband in his military career and was very helpful with the soldiers family's day to day activities. While based in Turkey, Marty was asked to participate in American volleyball, softball and basketball games with the G.I.'s and served as the Director of the Red Crescent (Cross). Upon their return to the states, Marty became an office manager for the law firm of Bracewell & Giuliani, L.L.P. in Washington DC and Dallas for over 20 years before retiring in May of 2009. She enjoyed sports, event planning, and volunteering at the Christian Bookshop in West. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West where she recently served as project manager for the church pictorial directory and as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. Survivors include her beloved husband of 43 years, Eddie Anderson of West; her mother, Margaret Barbara Cocek of West; a son, Jason Anderson and wife Nichole of McGregor; three daughters, Michele Boles and husband Kyle of Garland, Shawn Lee and husband Paul of Chandler, AZ, and Brandy Archdale and husband Brian of Wolf Point, MT; a brother, Alphonse "Buddy" Cocek and wife Stasie of Houston, her mother-in-law, Helen Anderson of Waco; seven grandchildren, Cameron, Reagan & Edward Lee, Brodi & Brogan Archdale, and Brooks & Abigail Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Jason Anderson, Kyle Boles, Paul Lee, Dwain Lichnovsky. Mark Lichnovsky, and Al Kyle. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Cocek, Jonathan Cocek, Mike Dinnin, Fred Mechell, and Fred Bell. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund, P. O. Box 276, West, Texas 76691.
