Magdalen (Podsednik) Averitt, age 95, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, May 11, 2013 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Magdalen was born March 6, 1918 near Hoen, the daughter of Frank J. and Frances (Bartek) Podsednik. She attended the old Hoen School. She was married to the late Kenneth Averitt. Magdalen worked for General Dynamics in Ft. Worth for many years before retiring in 1977. She then returned to West where she became active with the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 and the K.J.Z.T. Society #11. She was also a very faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Magdalen is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include a niece, Mary Frances Klaus of Hoen; great nephews, Billy Klaus and wife Linda, Michael Klaus and wife Marcella and Tommy Muska and wife Lisa; a great niece, Sharon Bohne; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Chris Klaus, Kevin Klaus, Justin Klaus, Tommy Muska, Josh Linnenkugel and Dennis Pustejovsky. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of your choice.
