Vincent Chacko, IMS con-celebrating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. L.A. was born on October 10, 1938, in West, the youngest son of Jerry and Rose Holecek. He attended school in West and joined the Navy with his good buddy, Clarence Matus, when he was sixteen. On December 26, 1962, he was united in marriage to Veronica (Nordgren) Holecek in West. L.A. was a carpenter, who inherited the trade from his dad, uncles, and older brothers. He spread his talents mainly in the West area, but also spent some time remodeling churches for L.L. Sams and Sons, working all across the East Coast. He shared his talents with his two sons and nephews, as well as their friends whom he employed. L.A. was always good for a story and many friends and family looked forward to the times when they could gather around for some interesting conversation. L.A. enjoyed fishing, hunting, and attending family gatherings. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and entertaining them. He also enjoyed taking them to the zoo and going to the store with them to purchase scratch off tickets. His parents and his brother, Henry Holecek, precede him in death. Survivors include his wife, Veronica (Bunny) Holecek of Elm Mott; two sons, Jimmy Holecek of Elm Mott and Greg Holecek and wife Christine of West; two daughters, Leslie Andrews and husband Doug of Elm Mott and Michele Powers and husband Brian of Waco; seven grandchildren, Amy Holecek, Kourtney Powers, Noah Powers, Andy Bajer, Kyndall Holecek, Kole Holecek, and Lindsey Andrews; his brother, Larry Holecek and wife Mollie; three sisters, Marcella George and husband James, Mary Ann Hykel and husband Harry Lee, and Milada Mazanec; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Providence Hospice for their support and care they provided during L.A.'s final days of his life here on earth. We would also like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the family members and friends whose thoughts and prayers were with us during his time of illness. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, 4830 Lakewood Drive, Suite 5, Waco, Texas 76710, St. Mary's Parish Center, or The Cameron Park Zoo.
