Lucille Wernet, age 90, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, October 29, 2011. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Lucille was born June 12, 1921 in West, the daughter of August and Christine (Mashek) Stanislav. She attended West Schools and graduated from West High School. On February 2, 1942 she was united in marriage to Louis J. Wernet, Sr. in West. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1990. Lucille was the owner of House of Flowers and Gifts and together with her husband was the owner of Wernet's West Drug until her retirement. She enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She especially loved spending time with her family. Lucille was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829. Lucille is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Louis J. Wernet, Jr; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Wernet, and a brother, Jerry Stanislav. Survivors include a son, Tom Wernet and wife Sue of Ft. Worth; a daughter, Donna Haden and husband Darrell of Robinson; two sisters, Margaret Clark of Dallas and Tina Needham of New York; 7 grandchildren, Helaine Griffin and husband Greg; Adrian Wernet. Allison Slovak and husband Ronnie, Aaron Wernet and wife Sara, Jennifer Moon and husband Neal, Lindsey Halm, and Christopher Haden; 6 great-grandchildren, Mindy Griffin and fianc Erik Cummings, Kayla Griffin, Mackenzie Wernet, Lauren Wernet, Julia Wernet, and Amber Moon; her beloved cat Clapper ;and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active Pallbearers are Jerry Wayne Stanislav, Jim Maguire, Joe Mashek, Dr. B. D. Pierce, Joe Edd Grimm and Mike Sulak. Honorary pallbearers are Jody Stanislav and all of Lucille's grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Volunteer Ambulance Association, St. Mary's Church, or West Volunteer Fire Department.
