Lucille Sulak

Lucille (Drozd) Sulak, age 93, of West, passed away late Friday, October 11, 2024 at West Rest Haven in West.


A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.


Lucille was born November 29, 1930 in Hill County, near the Massey community, the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Gallia) Drozd. She attended school in Bynum and was a 1948 graduate of West High School. On November 6, 1950 she was united in marriage to George Sulak in West. George preceded her in death on December 31, 2001. Lucille was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of SPJST Cottonwood Lodge #6, KJZT Society #11, Catholic Daughters of America Court #829, and the McLennan/Hill County Czech Heritage Society. She was a Mother, housewife, homemaker, and worked along side her husband at George Sulak Motors in West. Lucille made friends wherever she went, her optimism, warmth and supportive nature, were the qualities that leave a memorable impression. She was most proud of her family and her warm home she had created with her husband. Lucille loved cooking and is well known for her delicious cream puffs and kolaches. She loved playing dominoes "42", gardening, bingo, and taking care of her grand babies.


Lucille is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Becky Sulak; and brothers, Jerry Drozd and wife Ida and Leo Drozd.


Survivors include her children, James Sulak and Erin McClendon of Cedar Hill, Gary Sulak of Abbott and Kathy Coffer, Sharon Kolar and Rick Kolar of West, and Keith and Elaine Sulak of Abbott; her grandchildren, Bryan Sulak, Trey Kolar and wife Taylor, Trent Kolar, Tia Kolar, Garret Sulak and wife Gabby, and Natalie Sulak; a great grandson, Liam on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Pallbearers are Bryan Sulak, Trey Kolar, Trent Kolar, Garret Sulak, David Sulak, Duane Sulak, and Erin McClendon.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Volunteer Ambulance Association or St. Mary's Cemetery Association.
