Lucille "Flucy" (Morris) Price, age 92, of West, passed away late Wednesday evening, January 1, 2014 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Lucille was born August 7, 1921 in West, the daughter of August Joseph and Mary (Peters) Morris. She attended West schools and graduated from West High School in 1939. She then attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she majored in journalism. While there, she met John C. Price, a young geology student from Palestine. They were married on December 28, 1941 in West and lived for a time in New London, CT while John trained for service in the U.S. Coast Guard. Lucille returned to live in West while he served in the Coast Guard, and during that time she substitute taught at St. Mary's Catholic School and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, including her high school best friend, Evelyn Moon. After John's Coast Guard service ended, they moved to Tyler, where he got his first job working for Magnolia Petroleum. They raised a family of three children, and were active in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish. They were very active in the Tyler Saddle Club, of which Lucille was a principal founder. In 1962 they moved to Palestine, where they lived until John's untimely death in December 1976. Lucille then relocated to West, where she lived for more than 30 years. She was part owner of the Village Shoppe in West, together with her sisters, Georgia Montgomery and Gladys Quilter. Lucille was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Catholic Daughters of America Court #829, K.J.Z.T. Society #11, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #54, Hill/McLennan County Czech Heritage Society and a charter member of West Sokol. She enjoyed animals, especially horses, oil painting, and playing tennis. She was a life-long Texas Longhorns fan and loved watching Texas Rangers Baseball. Lucille was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lillian (Morris) Brewington and Georgia (Morris) Montgomery. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Arms and husband Geoffrey of Houston and Suzy Price of West; a son, John M. Price and wife Brenda of West; a sister, Gladys Quilter; a brother-in-law, Walter S. Price; three grandchildren, Lauren Arms Beck and husband Chris, John T. Price and wife Rachel, and Austin J. Price; great grandchildren, Christopher, Lillian, Sadie and one on the way; a niece, Mimi Montgomery Irwin; and many other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are John T. Price, Austin Price, Chris Beck, Mark Thomas, Garnett Davis and Johnny Mynar. Honorary pallbearers are David Moon, Billy D. Pierce MD, Bruce Cocek, George Pickel and Wes Filer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Fund, St. Mary's School Endowment Fund, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
