Luciano "PaPa Lou" Cuevas, age 77, of Penelope, passed away late Thursday evening, July 21, 2022 at his residence.
A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope, with Rev. Brijil Lawrence as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Luciano was born February 25, 1945 in Cortazar, Mexico the son of Rafael and Lucia (Melgar) Cuevas. He attended schools in Mexico. He worked in the maintenance department for the Penelope Independent School District for many years. Luciano enjoyed fishing, gardening, riding around in their car, and traveling to the coast to enjoy the sound of the waves. PaPa Lou always loved to cook and spend time with his family, especially all his grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope.
Luciano is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Adela; and a daughter, Joana Williams.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Antonia "Anna" Moreno Esparza of Penelope; a loving and caring father to his children, Anita "Nikki" Collins and husband Justin of Hewitt, Phillip Esparza Jr. and wife Rachael of Penelope, Erik Esparza and Jennifer Dudik of West, and John Paul Esparza and wife Melissa of Penelope; brothers and sisters, Elena, Genaro, Jesus, Angel, Francisco, Rafael, Gillermo, Teresa, and Javier; his grandchildren, Corey Williams and wife Bobbie, Jessica Raborn and husband Julian, Treston Esparza, Devin Esparza, Megan Esparza, Pierce Esparza, Kaden Collins, Kash Esparza, Kayleigh Collins, Kyndall Collins; a great grandson, Kai Raborn; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers are John Paul Esparza, Erik Esparza, Phillip Esparza, Jr., Treston Esparza, Devin Esparza, and Pierce Esparza. Honorary pallbearers are Kash Esparza and Kai Raborn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope.
