Louise Sparks, age 89, of Gholson, passed away late Sunday evening, February 9, 2014 at Regent Care in Woodway. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson, with Rev. Jimmy Sansom and Rev. James Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Sparks was born April 28, 1924 in Tours, the daughter of Maria (Jetter) and John J. Glatter Jr. She attended schools in Tours and West. On June 16, 1942 she was united in marriage to Carroll Sparks in Starke, FL. Carroll preceded her in death on February 24, 1990. Louise was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a very faithful and active member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson where she was a trustee and helped with the Harvest Festival each year. She was also a member of the Gholson Birthday Club, Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Waco. Louise loved being the Glatter family historian and chronicler and visiting with friends. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, playing dominoes and card games. Louise is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mike Glatter, Charlie Glatter, Eugene Glatter, Johnny Glatter, Max Glatter and Henry Glatter; and sisters, Lena McGee, Angeline DiCorte, Christine Leuschner, Rosa Bockholt and Agnes Meixner. Survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann Allen of West; two sons, Billy C. Sparks and wife Clara of Gholson and Dr. Larry Sparks and wife Theresa of West; grandchildren, Melissa Teal and husband Johnny, Lynette Kaluza and husband David, Krystal McMahon and husband Ryan, Sarah Sparks, Ethan Sparks, and Jay Allen and wife Courtney; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Garrett, Tyler, Taylor, Chloe, Tristan, Lauryn, and Macy Jay; a great granddaughter, Alyssa Jo; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Jay Allen, Ethan Sparks, Garrett Teal, Wyatt Teal, Tyler Kaluza and Tristan Sparks McMahon. Honorary pallbearers will be Melissa Teal, Lynette Kaluza, Krystal McMahon, Lauryn Allen, Macy Jay Allen, Sarah Sparks, Chloe Kaluza and Taylor Kaluza. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church or to Gholson Cemetery.
