Louis V. Rejcek

June 21, 1922 — December 8, 2015

Louis V. Rejcek, age 93, of Covington, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 8, 2015 at his residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro, with Rev. Ouseph Thekkumthala as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Denver Crawley. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Louis was born June 21, 1922 in West, the son of Anton and Mary (Hajicek) Rejcek. He attended the old Tokio School near West. Louis served his country with the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. On May 31, 1949 he was united in marriage to Mary Urban in Abbott. Louis and Mary operated the family farm near Covington for most of his life where they harvested wheat, milo, corn, cotton and did custom combining. He also raised cattle and was known as a "dynamite" mechanic who could take any piece of metal and create something useful for everyday farm life. Louis was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #4 and a 75 year member of the KJT Society in Hillsboro. He enjoyed reading western novels, watching westerns (especially Gunsmoke), deer hunting, playing dominoes and making sausage. Louis is preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Stephanie Rejcek; brothers, Valentine Rejcek, Raymond Rejcek and Bob Rejcek; and sisters, Francis Tichavsky, Mary Pavelka, Julie Grmela and Josephine Sulak. Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary A. Rejcek of Covington; his children, Teresa Truttmann and husband Tom of Covington, Veronica Theobald and husband Bill of Eden Prairie, MN, Bernadette Doty and husband Monte of Teague, Louis J. Rejcek and Ginny Lewis of Itasca, Patty Haber of Ft. Worth and Mary Ann Kennedy and husband Tim of Hillsboro; a brother, Anton Rejcek and wife Lois; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers are Anthony Theobald, Phillip Martinez, Kyle Kennedy, Kevin Kennedy, Scott Doty, Louis Rejcek III, Timothy Sulak, James Barron, Scott Haber and Lance Rejcek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro.
