Lou Sullins

Lou Sullins, age 90, of Clifton, formerly of West, passed away early Friday morning, December 1, 2017 at Lutheran Sunset Hope Center in Clifton. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Darrell Kostiha as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery. Mrs. Sullins was born April 17, 1927 in West, the daughter of Taylor and Louise (Miller) Duncan. She was a graduate of St. Marys School, Our Lady of the Lake High School and College in San Antonio where she received a Bachelor Degree in English and Elementary Education. On November 29, 1975 she was united in marriage to Dwayne C. Sullins in West. Dwayne preceded her in death on March 29, 1995. Lou was very passionate about teaching and being a special part in the lives of children. She taught at St. Mary's School in West, where she directed the school choir and was a sponsor and trainer for the cheerleaders. She also taught in Vidor and Killeen. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Lou was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829, St. Anne Altar Society and the West Garden Club. She enjoyed reading, teaching and playing with all the children at school. She especially loved her dogs. Lou is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David Duncan and Daniel Duncan; and sisters, Audrey Donahew, Lanelle Krammer and Alma Jean Duff. Survivors include her nieces, Lynda Svacek and husband Paul of Waco, Denise English of Austin and Cindy Crisler of Whitney; great nieces, Brandy Hathaway and Kristen Porter; great nephew, Nicholas Svacek; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Paul Svacek, Nicholas Svacek, JIm Miller and Roger Miller. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Legacy West Education Foundation, P. O. Box 81, West, Texas 76691 or to Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home.
