Lou "Nana" Rose, age 86, of Penelope, passed away Friday, January 7, 2005 at her residence. A rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home chapel by Janice Kaluza. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Penelope, with Rev. Frank Miller as celebrant. Burial will follow at St Mary's Cemetery near Penelope. Lou was born June 6, 1918 in Tennessee, the daughter of Cleveland and Mary Gambill. She graduated from Hanford High School in California. She was a hotel manager in the Southern California area and also worked as a retail clerk. Lou retired in 1980 and moved to Penelope. She was a member of the Church of the Nativity, where she was very active, helping with funeral meals and church bazaars. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She loved her grandsons and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and knitting. Her parents; two brothers, James Gambill and John Gambill; her sister, Evelyn Switzer; and son-in-law, Gene Marek; all precede her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Marek of Penelope; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gambill of Los Angeles, CA; two grandsons, Tom Marek and wife Paula of Abbott and Tim Marek of West; four great-grandchildren, Chelsey Marek, Christy Marek, Kyle Marek, and Darren Marek; several nieces, nephews, including Chuck Gambill and John Gambill, and other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Vincent Sinkule, Harry Gene Nors, Ronnie Osbourne, Bennie Firasek, David Kucera, Joshua Kucera and Josh Waller. Memorials may be made to West Ambulance Association.
