Lou Carlile, age 84, of Amarillo, formerly of West, passed away Wednesday evening, December 7, 2016 at The Cottage's at Quail Creek in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Graveside services will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday at Ft. Parker Cemetery near Groesbeck. Lou was born December 6, 1932 in Groesbeck, the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Oneta (Murphy) Toney. She attended schools in Groesbeck and was a 1950 graduate of Groesbeck High School. On January 25, 1952 she was united in marriage to Derrell L. Carlile in Waco. Derrell preceded her in death on May 29, 2006. Lou was an accountant for Greg May Honda for over 20 years before retiring in 2005. She also worked in accounting for several other Waco area businesses. Lou was a member of the First Baptist Church of West. She was a devoted football wife and never missed a game while Derrell was coaching. Lou loved her family and spent countless hours sewing Barbie clothes and prom dresses for her two daughters. She was a proud Nanny to her grandsons and had an especially close bond with her great-grandchildren. Lou loved spending time with her lady friends in West, especially her best friend, Joyce. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Phend and husband, Bill, of Amarillo and Carol Huffman and husband, Doug, of Amarillo; grandsons, Jeff McPherson and wife Mendi and Clay McPherson and his former wife Karri; great grandchildren, Cason, Kaden, Maddyx, Callie, and Creed; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Jeff McPherson, Clay McPherson, Doug Huffman, and Bill Phend. A very special thanks goes to the staff at The Cottages at Quail Creek in Amarillo for loving Lou so much and caring for her for the past 3 years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
