Loretta Svacek, age 83, of West, passed away Saturday morning, December 31, 2011 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Svacek was born February 11, 1928 in San Antonio, the daughter of Elo and Victoria (Stout) Corliss. She attended schools in San Antonio, graduating from South San High School in 1948. On August 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Raymond R. Svacek in San Antonio. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1967. Loretta worked for Fox Studio in San Antonio for seven years. After moving to West, she worked for Friendship Cafe before becoming a Deputy for the McLennan County Sheriff's Department. She retired from the Department in 1992 after 18 years of service. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where she sang in the P.T.C. Choir for many years. Loretta was also a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 4819 Ladies Auxiliary and K.J.Z.T. Society #11. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, cooking, assisting with the West Rest Haven Activity Department, and especially loved spending time with her family. Loretta is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James L. Corliss; a sister, Mary Frances Tondre; and a very good friend, Edward Steinocher. Survivors include two sons, Paul Svacek and wife Lynda of Granbury, and Robert Svacek and partner, Charlie Mason of San Antonio; a daughter, Pauline Stearns and husband Allen of Panama City, Florida; three grandchildren, Keith Hudson and wife Angie, Clay Hudson and wife Carla, and Nicholas Svacek; two great grandchildren; Kaleb and Grace Hudson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Harry Volcik, Nicholas Svacek, Keith Hudson, Clay Hudson, Harry Corliss and David Tondre. Honorary Pallbearers are employees of the McLennan County Sheriff's Department. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Activity Fund.
