Lora Mae Uptmore

Lora Mae Uptmore, age 84, of Waco passed away early Saturday morning, December 10, 2005 at Quality Care in Waco. Rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 3:15 p.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Monsignor Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Uptmore was born June 9, 1921 in West, the daughter of Gus and Mary (Weissinger) Richter. She attended schools in Leroy and West. On April 15, 1940, she was united in marriage to Clements Frank "Shorty" Uptmore. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2000. Lora Mae worked as a retail salesperson for Coopers Card and Party Shop in Irving for over twenty years until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church where she was active with the Tours Senior Program. A brother, Jerry Richter also preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Clements George "Sonny" Uptmore and Etsuko Uptmore of Milan, IL; one daughter, Janice Marie Nevers and husband Ray of Whitney; five brothers, Roland Richter and wife Olene of Bellmead, Harlan Richter and wife Vernelle of Waco, Garlan Richter and wife Jessie of Albany, GA, Hershel Richter and wife Rose of Elm Mott and Larry Richter of Flower Mound; two sisters, Rose Marie Richter of Waco and Leona Jackson and husband Charles of Garland; four grandchildren, Louis Edward Uptmore and fiance Kayla, Mary Martens and husband Tom, Sheila Farrish, Lori Primm and Mike Knapp; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Russell Richter, Louis Edward Uptmore, Mike Knapp, Bob Chudej, Fred Canto, Preston Primm and Jimmy Bowers. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
