Lonnie D. Lander

Lonnie D. Lander, age 93, of Wichita Falls, formerly of West, passed away late Sunday evening, July 15, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Richter officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at Closner Cemetery near West, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Lonnie was born July 5, 1925 in Leroy, the son of Henry and Annie (Otto) Lander. He attended school in Malone and was a graduate of West High School. He served his country with the United States Army following World War II . On April 26, 1958 he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Kelinske in Gerald. Lonnie worked for the William Cameron Company in Waco for 15 years before moving to Wichita Falls where he went to work at Sheppard Air Force Base as a photographer and worked there for 21 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls. Lonnie enjoyed gardening, doing yard work and being outdoors. He especially loved spending time with family and friends. Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Katie Drews and Josephine Lehmann; and a brother, Monroe Lander. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara Lander of Wichita Falls; children, Cynthia Grady and husband Douglas of Salado and Michael L. Lander of Wichita Falls; several grandchildren including, Michael Lander Jr., Melissa Thompson and husband Matthew and Kristy Bzoski and husband Daniel; several great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Matt Thompson, Dan Bzoski, Garry Drews, John Vigus, Glen Vigus and Darryl Kelinske. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Closner Cemetery Association.
