Lillie Matus

Lillie Marie (Chudej) Matus, age 81, of West, passed away late Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2022 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

Memorial Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West.  Private Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Lillie was born January 3, 1941, the daughter of Raymond and Lillie (Novak) Chudej in the Tokio community near West.  She attended West schools and was a 1959 graduate of West High School.  On July 29, 1961 she was united in marriage to A.P. Matus Jr. in West.  A.P. preceded her in death on August 7, 2012.  Lillie was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West.  She was a mother and homemaker.  Lillie enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, tending her flowers, making flower arrangements, working with ceramics, doing yard work, and traveling.  She loved spending time with her family and attending their life events.

Lillie is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Eric Vincent Matus; a brother, Raymond Frank Chudej Jr.; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Survivors include her sons, Christopher Matus of Bryan and Jason Matus of West; her grandchildren, Branson and Hollie Matus; a sister-in-law, Barbara Chudej; her Godchildren, Evelyn Karcher, Judy Kudelka, Mark Hejl, Marvin Gerik Jr., Shelly Moore, Sharon Davidson, Dustin Davidson, Austin Patterson, Kristen Davidson, and William Roberts; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in West or the Waco Humane Society.
