Lillie Chudej

Lillie Chudej, age 95, of West, passed away early Sunday afternoon, January 22, 2012 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Lillie was born September 25, 1916 in West, the daughter of John F. and Marie (Hejl) Novak. She attended the Tokio School. On October 17, 1939 she was united in marriage to Raymond Thomas Chudej, Sr. in West. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1994. Lillie was a housewife and homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was also a member of the K.J.Z.T. St. Ludmila Society No. 11 and the Catholic Daughter of America Court No. 829. Lillie was a very creative person who loved the holidays. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, gardening, canning, sewing, and playing the piano and harmonica. She especially loved taking care of her grandchildren and was known for her chicken noodle soup. Lillie is also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Nors; and a grandson, Eric Matus. Survivors include a daughter, Lillie Matus and husband A.P. of West; a son, Raymond Chudej, Jr. and wife Barbara of West; a sister, Tina Chudej of West; four grandchildren, Chris Matus and fiance Darby Roberts, Jason Matus, Shelly Moore and husband Ty, and Sharon Davidson and husband Darren; six great grandchildren, Branson, Hollie, Austin, Marli, Dustin and Kristin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Chris Matus, Jason Matus, Branson Matus, Austin Patterson, Dustin Davidson, and Ty Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Shelly Moore, Sharon Davidson, Hollie Matus, Marli Moore, Kristin Davidson, Billy Kolar and Marvin Gerik. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund or West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
