Lillian Sophie (Peterson) Bell, age 102, of Hillsboro, passed away late Sunday evening, November 27, 2011 at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Gary Kreder and Bro. Doyle Cathy officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, with Rev. Robyn Young officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bell was born May 3, 1909 in McLennan County, the daughter of Anton and Shellie Amanda (Bryan) Peterson. She attended the Leggett School. On September 13, 1930 she was united in marriage to Rolan Bell in West. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1974. Lillian worked for the Library Binding Company in Waco with the Plastic Division for over ten years until her retirement in 1974. She also helped her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed quilting, helping with fundraisers and gardening. She was a member of the Line Street United Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Lillian is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Bell and wife Sara; five brothers, Martin Peterson, Robert Peterson, Richard Peterson, John Peterson and Harrison Peterson; two sisters, Mary Brustrom and Ethel Brown; grandchildren, Janice Jares, Jason Jares, Mark Allen Bell and Ricky Martin; and sons-in-law, Donald Jares, Frank Lee Uptmore and R.B. Reese. Survivors include three daughters, Ann Reese of Hillsboro, Shellie Uptmore of West, and Dovie Gallander and husband Ed of Mt. Calm; 10 grandchildren, Mike Bell and wife Cheryl, Janet Prater and husband Tom, David Bell and wife Kay, Ronnie Reese and wife Amanda, Jimmy Uptmore and wife Donna, Lisa Martin, Frankie Uptmore and wife Debra, Jeff Jares and wife Clare, Jennifer Ashley and husband Mike and Judy Trevino and husband Johnny; 28 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Milton Peterson, Bobby Zettler, Anton Peterson, Billy Ray Peterson, Matt Peterson and George Ball. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great granddaughter, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Line Street United Methodist Church, 304 Line St., Hillsboro, TX 76645 or to Town Hall Estates Activity Department, 300 Happy Lane, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
