Lillian "Lil" Urbanovsky

Lillian "Lil" (Bezdek) Urbanovsky, age 93, of West, passed away Sunday morning, September 17, 2023 at West Rest Haven in West. She passed peacefully, comforted by her loving family.

A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel.

Lil was born May 17, 1930 in West, the daughter of John and Frances (Kallus) Bezdek. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and is a 1947 graduate of West High School and completed 4-C Business College in Waco. On June 19, 1950 she was united in marriage to Daniel "Danny" Urbanovsky Jr. in West. Lil was a very faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829, St. Anne's Altar Society, the History of West Museum, and the McLennan/Hill Czech Heritage Society. Lil had been an active volunteer who helped at the West Senior Citizen Center. Danny and Lil were also associate directors for Westfest and were recognized as Parade Marshalls in 1996. Lil and Danny joined her father-in-law's photography business and began their over 65 year career taking pictures in and around West of weddings, events, and families. Lil enjoyed playing bingo, family gatherings, visiting with her friends, looking at pictures, working in the studio, and making her famous potato salad, chicken salad and cheesy potatoes. She loved spending time with her family and was known as being the best "Momo" to her 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Lil is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Danny Urbanovsky; her parents; an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Urbanovsky; a daughter-in-law, Carla Urbanovsky; grandsons, Thumper Nicely and Neil Dempsey; her sisters, Josephine Kubala, Mary Bezdek, Rose Bezdek, Bessie Lichnovsky, Helen Gresham, Sister Alice Marie Bezdek, and Wilma Bezdek; and her brothers, Charlie Bezdek, John Bezdek, Jim Bezdek and Harry Bezdek.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Doris Gayden; her children, Gary Urbanovsky of Waco, Gail and Jim Dempsey of New Braunfels, Don and Pam Urbanovsky of West, and Diane and Chuck Nicely of Magnolia; her grandchildren, Nikki and Darrin Hall, Julie Kirkpatrick, Jody and Dawn Urbanovsky, Denise Mayen, Sarah and Bobby Janecka, Lisa and Lindsey Chambers, Kevin and Tiffany Urbanovsky, Colin Urbanovsky, Kayla and Doug Gray, John Nicely, Jennifer Nicely, and Jeremy and Emily Nicely; her great grandchildren, Cory Hall and fiancée Shania Laudemann, Austin Hall, Brandon and Allison Yusko, Jace Kirkpatrick, Gage Kirkpatrick, Koby Kirkpatrick, Parker Neal, Audrey Neal, Contessa Mayen, Alexander Mayen, Edison Mayen, Elliott Janecka, Malcolm Janecka, Benjamin Nicely, and Hallie Nicely; her great great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Zenith, Theo, and Trevor; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are her grandchildren Nikki, Julie, Jody, Denise, Sarah, Lisa, Kevin, Colin, Kayla, John, Jennifer, and Jeremy.

The family would like to thank the staff of West Rest Haven for their loving and compassionate care to our mother, especially to those who adopted her as their own grandmother. We also want to thank her roommate JoAnn and her circle of friends for the friendship and love extended to Lil.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the History of West Museum, St. Mary's Cemetery Association, or the West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
