A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Thomas Jones as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Terry Timmons. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery.
Lil was born April 13, 1937 in Abbott, the daughter of Cyril and Christine (Marek) Svrcek. She was a 1955 graduate of West High School. On November 24, 1956 she was united in marriage to Charlie Pavlas in West. They were married 56 beautiful years before he preceded her in death on November 28, 2012. They were long time, faithful members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in their hometown of Abbott. Lil was a dedicated and nurturing person, who balanced her family responsibilities with helping her husband on the farm and staying home to raise her sons. She was a giving woman with a servant's heart. She and Charlie catered meals once a month at the Christian Alliance Fellowship at Hill College and she prepared many funeral meals. While their sons were in grade school, she served as PTA Secretary for Abbott Schools. Furthering her love for children, she also cared for several children in her home and served as a CCE coordinator at church.
Lil was also a member of KJZT Society #104 where she served as a secretary, the Abbott Altar Society, and she was an associate member of KJT Society #107. She enjoyed traveling, making annual trips to the beach and girl trips to Winstar. She doted on her grandchildren with her kitchen skills, by canning pickles and making salsa for their birthdays. Her food making did not stop there, as she also did butchering, made summer sausage, sausage and jitrnice, and homemade soup. Other favorites included baking, gardening, and quilting. However, anyone who knew Lil, knew that she cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and supported and attended all of their sporting events.
Lil is also preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Dennis Pavlas and Larry Pavlas; an infant daughter, Catherine Pavlas; grandson, Nicholas Pavlas; and a sister, Marie Snider.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Pavlas and wife Stephanie of Penelope, and Louis Pavlas and wife Sherry of Gholson; daughter-in-law, Michele Pavlas of West; grandchildren, Breanna and Justin Watson, Cassie Pavlas and Darren Marek, Sophie Pavlas, Brent and Holly Pavlas, and Travis Pavlas and Maddie Strickling; great grandchildren, Emersyn Watson, Emily Pavlas, and Oaklyn Watson; great grandson, baby Marek on-the-way; brothers, Cyril Svrcek and wife Unett, Raymond Svrcek and wife Betty, and Bob Svrcek and wife Jeanne; sister, Edith Brem and husband Herbert; brother-in-law, Dean Snider; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Polansky and husband Sam; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers are Brent Pavlas, Travis Pavlas, Justin Watson, Darren Marek, Cody Kraemer, and Cody Coan. Honorary pallbearers are Emily Pavlas, Oaklyn Watson, Emersyn Watson, and all those who called her Mama Lil or Aunt Lil.
