Leslie H. Dickey

Leslie H. Dickey, age 81, of Penelope, passed away late Thursday evening, February 24, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Keith Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Penelope Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Dickey was born December 27, 1929 in Hillsboro, the son of Arthur and Mamie (Mercer) Dickey. He attended school in Bynum . He served his country with the United States Army, stationed in Alaska. On September 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Geneva Stepp in Durant, OK. Geneva preceded him in death on February 1, 2007. Leslie was a truck driver for over 35 years, for Arkansas Best Freight out of Dallas. He enjoyed traveling to Louisiana, watching westerns and listening to Bob Wills. He really loved spending time with his family and friends. His parents; two brothers, Wayne Dickey and Donald Dickey; and four sisters, Alleen McDonald, Virgie Moore, Katy McGill and Frances Stewart; also preceded him in death. Survivors include five daughters, Cindy Kimbrell and husband Stephen of Leroy, Bonnie Paranuk and Leslie Nichols and husband Ricky, all of Penelope, Dawn Schloss of Waco, and Mamie Reece and husband Leland of Malone; a brother, Ned Dickey and wife Cindy of Arlington; three sisters, Glenda Ford of Mineral Wells, Bonnie Marlow of Paris, and Betty Ann Gammill of Pottsville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Rick Nichols, Leland Reece, Richard Johnson, Brandon Paranuk, Nicholas Paranuk, Zachary Paranuk, Joshua Baumgardner, and Stephen Kimbrell. Honorary pallbearers are Vince Cortez, Terry Crum, Jay Allen, and Bryan Harcrow.
