Les Sanders, age 76, of West, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, May 7, 2008 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Presley officiating. Les was born November 17, 1931 in Waco, the son of Leslie Carl and Allie Mae (Howze) Sanders. He attended schools in Waco. On November 1, 1974 he was united in marriage to Betty "Dee Dee" (McGee) Ford in Waco. Les worked in insurance sales for Washington National Insurance Company in the Waco area before moving to Oklahoma City, OK in 1975, working for the company until his retirement in 1983. They then moved to West where Les became very active volunteering for various organizations including Meals-On-Wheels and West Rest Haven. Shortly thereafter his passion became the West Over 50 Dance Club. He was one of the club organizers and served as the president until November 2007. Many dancers in the area will remember Les for his warm hugs and friendly smiles. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, A. M. Sanders; and two sisters, Lucille Laywell and Bea Helsby. Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Dee Dee Sanders of West; a son, Clint D. Ford and wife Yolanda of Waco; a daughter, Amy Ford of Bedford; two grandchildren, Aaron and Eric; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
