Leona "Bootsie" Weinberger, age 80, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, February 11, 2012 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery. Mrs. Weinberger was born May 12, 1931 in Tours, the daughter of Michael J. and Magdelena J. (Hoelscher) Glatter. She attended school in Tours. On February 4, 1948 she was united in marriage to Raymond A. Weinberger in Tours. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2004. Leona was a homemaker and a waitress/manager for the Lone Star Steakhouse in Waco from 1972 to 1998. She also worked for Burlington Mills and Plantation Foods. Leona was a longtime faithful member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2148 Ladies Auxiliary. Leona enjoyed playing Wahoo, Bingo and "42". She also enjoyed fishing, doing yard work, dancing, cooking, canning, and hosting parties at the house. She especially loved spending time with her family. Leona is also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Mary and Ann; a grandson, Ryan Weinberger; a son-in-law, Bobby Hurtt; and a brother, Michael Glatter Jr. Survivors include three sons, James Weinberger and wife Kay of Leroy, David Weinberger and wife Kathy of Mt. Calm; and Steve Weinberger and wife Anji of Tours; two daughters, Mary Hurtt of Waco and Sandra Rorie and husband Kerwin of Hurst; a brother, Anton Glatter; two sisters, Irene Mueller and Evelyn Gauer and husband Herman; sister-in-law, Evelyn Kettler; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her faithful dog, Punkie; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Derrick Hurtt, Todd Rorie, Michael Weinberger, John Weinberger, Seth Weinberger, Noah Weinberger, Caleb Weinberger, Samuel Weinberger and Hayden Stevens. Honorary pallbearers are Alisha Moore, Shelly Stevens, Sierra Weinberger, Hannah Weinberger, the V.F.W. Post No. 2148 Ladies Auxiliary, and Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's Cemetery or the charity of your choice.
