Leona Kadlubar

Leona Kadlubar, age 88, of Elm Mott, passed away late Tuesday morning, January 18, 2022 at Providence Hospital in Waco. A Rosary will be recited and Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Rev. Fred Huff officiating. Burial will follow at National Cemetery near West. Leona was born March 4, 1933 in Hill County, Texas the daughter of William and Sophia (Adams) Kucera. She attended schools in Penelope, prior to attending cosmetology school in Waco. On April 23, 1960 she was united in marriage to Joseph "Joe" Kadlubar in West. Leona was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours and the SPJST Lodge #54 in West. She owned and operated Leona's Beauty Shop in Elm Mott for many years. Leona enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music, playing bingo, 42 dominoes, buying scratch-offs, and going to the casinos in Oklahoma and Louisiana. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Leona is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin Kucera. Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, Joe Kadlubar of Elm Mott; a daughter, Sharon Gatlin and Mark Veselka of Elm Mott; grandchildren, Miranda Gatlin and Casey Carpenter, Lexi Gatlin and her fiance Colton Sandell, and Tristan Gatlin; a brother, Bill Kucera and his wife Louise; a sister, Rosie Atkins; a sister-in-law, Margie Kucera; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
