Lena Clarise Hill

Lena Clarise Hill of Quitman, formerly of West, passed away early Friday morning, September 18, 2009 at Heritage Nursing Home in Quitman. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at White Rock Cemetery near Ross, with the Dr. John Crowder officiating. Mrs. Hill was born in Gatesville, the daughter of Tom and Rachel (Price) Caufield. She was raised in and attended school in Gholson. On August 8 she was united in marriage to Jesse D. Hill in West. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2002. Lena worked as a sales clerk for Old Corner Drug in West for over 25 years until her retirement in 1975. She also co-owned the West Caf for over ten years. Lena loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed dancing at the Waco Senior Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church in West. Survivors include a son, Richard Hill and his wife Linda of Holly Lake Ranch; a daughter, Shirley Rodes of The Woodlands; three grandchildren, Ashley Hill, Ronnie Rodes and wife Jennifer and Richard Rodes; a great-grandson, Garrett Rodes; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
