Lawrence Girard

Lawrence Girard, age 55, of West, passed away Wednesday morning, March 5, 2014 at his residence. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at National Cemetery near West. Lawrence was born October 23, 1958 in Waco, the son of Woodrow E and Helen Ann (Grmela) Girard. He attended schools in West. On June 11, 1983 he was united in marriage to Louise F. Hajek in West. Lawrence was a farmer and rancher for most of his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Lawrence enjoyed fishing, hunting, making sausage, making wine, gardening and tending to his bee hives. He especially loved spending time with his family. Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carolyn Jones; and father-in-law, Arnold Hajek Jr. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Louise Girard of West; two sons, Tommy Girard and fiance Tristan Warren and Joe Girard, all of West; two brothers, Jerry Girard and wife Sara and David Girard and wife Diane; mother-in-law, Dorothy Hajek; sister-in-law, Theresa Soukup and husband Henry; brothers-in-law, Charlie Hajek and wife Charlott and Louis Hajek and wife Amy; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Tommy Girard, Joe Girard, Henry (Hoss) Soukup, Brian Girard, Harvey Seims, Louis Hajek, Matthew Hajek and C.J. Hajek. Honorary pallbearers are Karen Lopez, Joni Girard, Amy Linder, Becky McAdams, Tristan Warren, Holly Soukup and Raiven Hajek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
