Laverne Mikeska

LaVerne Evelyn Janek Mikeska, 79, passed away on April 22, 2013 at Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton, Texas. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Aderhold Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be a graveside service held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery near West. Rev. Curtis Holland will be officiating. She was born on August 24, 1933 in Penelope, Texas to Frank J. and Wilma A. (Skarpa) Janek. She was a lifelong resident of West where she met and married Walter Vaiden Mikeska who passed away on November 24, 1975. They farmed in the West area until his death. She then moved to into the City of West and worked in the Dietary Department at West Hospital for over 20 years. She loved her yard, flowers and gardening. LaVerne was a life member of the West Brethren Church and SPJST Lodge #6 Cottonwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Naomi Janek and Glenora Pustejovsky, and a brother, Jerry W. Janek. She is survived by her stepson, Richard Mikeska and wife, Betty of Whitney, Texas; two step-grandsons, Scott Jones and wife, Tina and Kevin Mikeska and wife, Nikki; four great grandchildren; one sister, Valeria Mae Helona of Abbott, Texas; sister-in-law, Karen B. Janek; several nieces, nephews and loving caretaker, Debbie Coleman. The pallbearers for the service will be Brad Janek, Blake Janek, Richard Mikeska, Scott Jones, Kevin Mikeska, David Girard, and Dennis Pustejovsky.
