Larry M. Jares, age 80, of West, passed away early Friday afternoon, July 2, 2021 at St. Catherine's Center in Waco. Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Mary's Cemetery near West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek officiating. Mr. Jares will lie-in-state Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Aderhold Funeral Home. Larry was born October 30, 1940 in West, the son of Fritz and Edith (Detterman) Jares. He attended St. Mary's School and West High School. On November 23, 1963 he was united in marriage to Charlene Harris in West. Charlene preceded him in death on January 9, 2012. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He worked for Foster Forbes Glass Plant for 35 years before retiring in 2000. Larry enjoyed gardening and playing games such as dominoes and poker with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his dog, Suzy. Larry is also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Terri Lynn Vrana; and a brother, Donald Jares. Survivors include his children, Laura Glatter and husband Carl of West, Robert Jares and wife Tammie of Mt. Calm, Ginger Kendrick and husband Billy of Leroy, and David Jares and wife Mandy of West; a son-in-law, Gary Vrana of Gholson; 21 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Jares and wife Gladys; sisters-in-law, Linda Henkelman and husband Robert and Patsy Williams; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or St. Mary's Cemetery Association.
